All in a day!

It was one of those spring Sundays that started with a gray, cloudy morning, where the mist slowly dissipated and gave way to the warming sun. A Chumash elder was telling stories at the cultural center and earth seemed to come alive. Flowers that had closed up would unfold their beauty and add their color sprinkles to the already lush green. Stories from the past would bring a smile on many faces, young and old.

All of a sudden the sky would fill with dark clouds and the fire sirens would sound. A neighbor's house had caught on fire. The wooden shingles were just food for this powerful force. The firemen did their best to save was there to save, which was not much. Within minutes this home was turned into a smoldering skeleton. Many possessions were turned into ash this afternoon. Luckily nobody was physically hurt in this incident.

What is left, when you loose all of your possessions? What is important then? What is important now?
